Prabowo Involves Professors in Key Government Positions

President Prabowo Subianto has said that he is involving professors in various key government positions to help find solutions to the nation’s problems. Speaking at the opening of the Indonesian Science, Technology, and Industry Convention (KSTI) in Jakarta on Friday, Prabowo noted that almost every strategic government sector now includes professors in crucial decision-making roles. “If you observe, in almost every key government sector, I have included professors in very decisive positions,” he said. Prabowo explained that the goal of the state is to create a decent and prosperous life for the people. Therefore, the government must be able to face various challenges while seeking solutions to the problems confronting the nation. According to him, he has been aware of the important role of scientists and professors in state administration from the very beginning. On that basis, professors are involved in various fields that have strategic and decisive roles. He stated that a leader needs reliable human resources to achieve set goals. As an illustration, Prabowo cited that success in sports is determined not only by the players but also by the quality of management and the entire support team. “If we want to win at football, we must have a good manager, a good coach, a good masseur, a good water carrier, and the best team, only then can we become champions. It is the same in all fields. It is not the technology, nor the equipment, but the men and women behind that equipment,” he said. Prabowo stressed that the main factor determining success is not merely technology or equipment, but the quality of the human resources who operate and utilise them. The KSI National Symposium runs from 26 to 28 June 2026, carrying the theme “Strategy for Indonesia’s Economic Independence and Welfare”. The event includes symposiums and panel discussions on agriculture, energy, economy and finance, food security, marine and fisheries, downstreaming, and industry. On Saturday (27/6), American economist Jeffrey Sachs is scheduled to give a public lecture to thousands of lecturers from various universities across Indonesia. The series of events will conclude on Sunday (28/6) with the launch of the 2026 research roadmap and agenda by Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Brian Yuliarto alongside Arif Satria. President Prabowo is scheduled to close the event at 10.00 WIB.
