Prabowo Invites Ulama and Islamic Organisations to Iftar at the Presidential Palace Tomorrow

President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to hold an iftar gathering with ulama and Islamic organisations at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, on Thursday (5 March), as part of Ramadan state activities. Religious Affairs Minister Nasaruddin Umar confirmed the plan after meeting the President at the Presidential Palace Complex on Wednesday afternoon (4 March). He said the invitation is a tradition kept to maintain communication with religious figures. ‘It is common for the President to invite religious figures and ulama to break the fast; tomorrow will be the same,’ Nasaruddin said. He explained that invited guests will cover a broad spectrum of Indonesian Muslims, from leaders of organisations to heads of pesantren, but the number of invites will be adjusted to the venue capacity inside the Palace. The Wednesday afternoon meeting between the Minister and the President also discussed technical details to ensure the event runs smoothly. ‘We discussed the technical aspects, alhamdulillah. As usual, as often invited, the figures from religious organisations and pesantren leaders, in line with the capacity of the room,’ Nasaruddin said. Although the technical aspects are ready, the Minister declined to specify whether any discussion on current issues or government policies would be on the agenda for the gathering.
