Prabowo Invites Two Sekolah Rakyat Students, Rizky and Citra, to Share Their Stories

President Prabowo Subianto invited several special guests to the Annual Session of the MPR and the Joint Session of the DPR and DPD at the Nusantara Building, Parliament Complex, Senayan, on Friday (14/8/2026).

While speaking about the Sekolah Rakyat programme, Prabowo called up two students participating in this flagship government initiative. One was Muhammad Risky Pratama (12), a pupil at Sekolah Rakyat Menengah Pertama 2 Medan, North Sumatra.

“Rizky once pedalled a bicycle for dozens of kilometres while carrying around 30 kilograms of fish to sell. Imagine a body like this, riding a bicycle carrying 30 kilograms of fish. You are extraordinary, Rizky, you are a good child,” said Prabowo.

Prabowo said that Rizky had previously dropped out of school and was not yet fluent in reading and arithmetic. But with this programme, he has regained his right to education.

“There is no investment more valuable than restoring a child’s future,” he said.

Prabowo also called up Citra Nur Ramadhani (10), who is also a student at a Sekolah Rakyat.

“Citra, a fourth-grade primary school pupil, almost dropped out because she had to help her mother sell peanuts. Her father has passed away and her mother is disabled. Sekolah Rakyat has given Citra the opportunity to learn without leaving her family to face the struggle alone. Citra also recently won a district-level karate championship,” he said.

On that occasion, Prabowo also joked with Citra, telling her not to date until she is 20 years old.

“In 10 years’ time, you may date. So Citra, you may date after you get your black belt in karate, so no one can mess with you,” he said.

Prabowo explained that 93 permanent Sekolah Rakyat schools have now been opened. Including pilot Sekolah Rakyat schools, a total of 182 Sekolah Rakyat schools have been opened.
