President Prabowo Subianto recounted inviting the renowned author and motivational speaker Tony Robbins to observe the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme in Jakarta. During the ‘Building Indonesia’s Future Generations Through Nutrition’ event held at the Sentul International Convention Centre (SICC) in Bogor, West Java, on Wednesday (3/6/2026), the President praised the food provided by a production unit located in the Palmerah area of Jakarta.

Prabowo shared that he had taken Tony Robbins to dine at a school in Jakarta on Tuesday (2/6/2026). He acknowledged that the meals, prepared by a kitchen managed by the Indonesian National Police (Polri), were of high quality. “I, along with Mr Tony Robbins, joined a meal at one of the schools. This is one of the best kitchens. I ate it, and I must admit, because it is a Polri kitchen, it is quite good,” said Prabowo, prompting laughter from the audience.

“Why are you laughing? ‘Quite good’ is good, isn’t it? Better than ‘quite bad’. The rice is delicious and fluffy,” Prabowo added.

National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo was seen smiling at the compliment. The President also jokingly suggested that the kitchen might have prepared such delicious food specifically because they knew he was coming. “I suspect this was prepared specially because they received info that the President was coming. Let’s have the head of BIN (State Intelligence Agency) conduct an investigation,” Prabowo joked. “Next time, if I am coming, beware. Do not tell them I am coming.”

According to Prabowo, the rice prepared at the production unit was as fluffy as that found in Japanese restaurants. He also noted that the ‘tempe orek’ (sweet and spicy tempeh) was delicious, despite the small portion size. “The vegetables were also tasty, a squash and corn mix. Although, the portion was a bit small. Mr. Tony and I ate it; since he is a large man, I think he was thinking, ‘Oh, I feel sorry for these Indonesian children’,” he concluded.
