Prabowo Invites Japanese Investors to Expand Investments in Indonesia
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto invited Japanese businesspeople at the Indonesia-Japan Business Forum in Tokyo on Monday to expand investments in Indonesia as an effort to strengthen economic cooperation and attract foreign direct investment to the country.
“Indonesia, as you know, is a country open to the world. Geographically and historically, Indonesia is an open economy. We rely on trade and close economic partnerships. Therefore, our foreign policy has always been based on the principle of non-alignment,” the President said at the business forum, quoted from a statement by the Press, Media, and Information Bureau of the Presidential Secretariat in Jakarta.
At the forum, the President emphasised that Indonesia’s openness to the world forms the main foundation in building global economic relations. He stated that Indonesia consistently maintains the stability of international relations through an inclusive approach.
The President also explained that the non-alignment principle adhered to by Indonesia allows the country to establish good relations with various parties without being bound to a particular bloc in global geopolitical dynamics.
“Our philosophy is that a thousand friends are still too few, one enemy too many,” he said.
According to the President, this philosophy reflects Indonesia’s commitment to expanding international partnerships and avoiding conflicts, thereby creating a conducive environment for investment growth.
He added that this approach positions Indonesia in a stable position amid increasingly complex global dynamics, while also being one of the advantages in attracting foreign investors.
“Indonesia is in a comfortable position because we have no enemies,” the President affirmed.
Furthermore, the President conveyed that the government continues to carry out reforms to create a more conducive investment climate, including through strengthening government governance and upholding the rule of law.
The government is also promoting economic transformation through industrialisation and increasing the value added of natural resources, as well as accelerating the development of the renewable energy sector, electric vehicles, manufacturing, and the digital economy.
Through these various measures, the President hopes that economic partnerships between Indonesia and Japan will become stronger and provide mutual benefits, while inviting Japanese businesspeople to participate in investment opportunities in Indonesia.
