Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto invited businesspeople from Japan to establish partnerships with Danantara at the Indonesia-Japan Business Forum in Tokyo on Monday local time.

Prabowo offered Indonesia’s reputation and good governance as proof of the country’s seriousness in protecting global investors.

“This will provide a sense of security and confidence that we are serious and will protect all investors. And I think our reputation is already very good,” Prabowo stated in an official statement from the Government Communication Agency in Jakarta on Monday.

Prabowo also conveyed that Indonesia’s reputation has been rated very highly because it has never defaulted on its debts throughout its history. This commitment has been upheld by the government for several decades.

“This reputation is not just 5, 10, or 15 years old. I believe this reputation has existed for several decades. Indonesia has a reputation, as you know, that we have never failed to pay our debts,” the President said.

Prabowo explained that Danantara is Indonesia’s current strategic investment management body.

This professional management of state assets is expected to become a new economic force by ensuring accountable management.

“Almost all of our assets are now under one management. We want rational management with best practices,” the President clarified.

The Head of State stated that Danantara has demonstrated very strong performance over the past year.

Furthermore, Prabowo stressed that this positive performance is evidence that Indonesia has great potential in managing national wealth more productively.

“And the results are very promising. In just the first year of operation, our sovereign wealth fund has seen significant increases. Some of them have yielded nearly 300 percent increases in asset returns,” Prabowo said.
