JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - President Prabowo Subianto invited Japanese businesspeople to expand their investments in Indonesia at the Indonesia-Japan Business Forum held in Tokyo on Monday (30/3/2026). He stated that Indonesia is a country that is highly open to global economic cooperation and is committed to maintaining the stability of international relations. “Indonesia, as you know, is a country that is open to the world. Geographically and historically, Indonesia is an open economy. We rely on trade and close economic partnerships. Therefore, our foreign policy is always based on the principle of non-alignment,” Prabowo said, quoted from the YouTube broadcast of the Presidential Secretariat on Monday. “Our philosophy is: a thousand friends is still too few, one enemy is too many,” Prabowo stated. He mentioned that this approach places Indonesia in a stable position amid the increasingly complex dynamics of global geopolitics. According to him, this is also an advantage for Indonesia. “Indonesia is in a comfortable position because we have no enemies,” Prabowo said. The government is also committed to strengthening governance, upholding the rule of law, and promoting economic transformation through industrialisation and increasing the value added of natural resources. In addition, Indonesia is accelerating the development of renewable energy, electric vehicles, and various manufacturing and digital economy sectors, which are considered to have great potential for development together with international partners. He invited Japanese businesspeople to participate in the various investment opportunities available in Indonesia. “We are not only offering opportunities, but also real partnerships,” Prabowo said.
