Prabowo Invites Japan to Expand Investments, Emphasises Indonesia's Ongoing Reforms
TOKYO - President Prabowo Subianto has invited Japanese businesspeople to expand their investments in Indonesia. He conveyed this during his attendance at the Indonesia-Japan Business Forum in Tokyo on Monday (30/3/2026).
At the forum, Prabowo stated that Indonesia is a country open to global economic cooperation and is continuously strengthening international relations with various strategic partners.
“Indonesia, as you know, is a country open to the world. Geographically and historically, Indonesia is an open economy. We rely on trade and close economic partnerships,” said Prabowo, quoted from the official statement of the Indonesian Government’s Communication Agency (Bakom).
He explained that Indonesia’s foreign policy has long been based on the non-aligned principle, which encourages good relations with various countries.
According to him, this diplomatic approach places Indonesia in a relatively stable position amid global geopolitical dynamics.
Prabowo also invited international partners, particularly Japan, to witness directly the major changes being undertaken by the Indonesian government.
He stated that the government is implementing comprehensive reforms, from improving governance to transforming the national economy.
“We want our partners to know that Indonesia is determined to carry out real reforms. We want to create a modern and rational society. We want to uphold the supremacy of law,” said the President.
