Prabowo Invites Islamic Scholars to Foster Unity in Facing Global Conditions

Jakarta, 5 March – President Prabowo Subianto has invited Islamic scholars, Islamic organisations, and leaders of pesantren to break fast together at the State Palace in Jakarta on Thursday evening, 5 March, to build unity and strengthen commitments in facing various global conditions. ‘Building togetherness and a strong commitment to face various global conditions,’ said Muhaimin Iskandar, the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Cultural Affairs, after the meeting at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta. He emphasised that all steps taken by President Prabowo are directed at national interests amid the dynamism of the global situation. ‘Whatever the condition, the US-Iran war, the state of geopolitics, we remain strong, united, solid, not easily divided, and importantly everything the President does is for national interest,’ he said. Cak Imin also said that in the meeting, Indonesia’s position on the Board of Peace (BoP) was discussed as part of efforts to realise Palestinian independence. ‘Yes, essentially Indonesia continues to seek a role in peace. President Prabowo held a silaturahmi gathering with kiai and representatives of Islamic organisations on the central lawn of the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Thursday evening. The event was attended by several kiai and ulama from various Islamic organisations, and began with the breaking of the fast. Among those present were Rais Aam of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) K.H. Miftachul Akhyar, Muhammadiyah Chairman Prof. Haedar Nashir, and Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) Chairman K.H. Anwar Iskandar.
