Prabowo Invites Former Presidents and Party Leaders to Dinner to Discuss Global Geopolitics
President Prabowo Subianto has invited former presidents and vice presidents, as well as the general chairmen of political parties, to the Istana Merdeka for dinner. The head of state is also expected to discuss a range of topics, including the current global geopolitical situation.
“Since last night, His Excellency the president has personally invited all former presidents, all former vice presidents, then the former foreign ministers, including the party leaders in parliament,” Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya told reporters on Tuesday (3/3).
“Praise be to God, most are expected to attend; this evening will be for discussion, building ties, and exchanging views. The president wishes to hear the views of these figures. Something like that,” he added.
Wijaya explained that one topic to be discussed with these figures is the current global geopolitical situation. However, he could not provide further details as the meeting had not yet begun.
The former presidents confirmed to attend include the 6th President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, the 7th President Joko Widodo. Also attending are Vice Presidents 10th and 12th Jusuf Kalla, 11th Boediono, and 13th Maruf Amin.
The General Chairman of NasDem, Surya Paloh, said the invitation was to attend dinner and discussion. “We will listen first; the president has invited us, we will see what is discussed, what is being debated,” he said.
Meanwhile the General Chairman of the National Awakening Party (Partai Amanat Nasional) and Minister Coordinating the Economy, Zulkifli Hasan, revealed that this agenda is a goodwill gathering initiated by Prabowo in the context of Ramadan and to welcome Idulfitri.
The latest issues will also be discussed by the Head of State together with the invited figures present. “Of course, the latest geopolitical developments,” said Zulhas.
