Prabowo Invites BRIN Researchers to Showcase Research and Innovation Achievements
President Prabowo Subianto invited around 150 researchers from the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) to the central courtyard of the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Thursday afternoon to see first-hand the research and innovation achievements produced by researchers from various regions in Indonesia. In his briefing, the President said the meeting was an opportunity for him to gain an initial overview of BRIN’s research results that could support national development. “I deliberately invited you to the Palace because I wanted to see, perhaps for the first time, not in great detail and not comprehensively, but to get a picture of the results you have achieved at BRIN,” said Prabowo.
He expressed his appreciation to the researchers present at the Palace. Prabowo also expressed his hope to visit BRIN campuses on future occasions, as he had previously visited the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) campus in Cibinong, Bogor Regency, before it was merged into BRIN. “I hope I might also be able to come and see your campuses. I once visited the former LIPI campus, if I am not mistaken, in Cibinong and several other places,” he said. On that occasion, Prabowo stressed that the development of a nation is largely determined by its ability to master science and technology. According to him, countries that master science and technology will develop more rapidly.
The President also assessed that education is the most important foundation for producing human resources capable of developing science and technology. In addition, the President invited researchers and government officials to build a work culture based on facts and reality in formulating solutions to various national problems. Prabowo believes that every challenge must be faced through objective analysis to produce appropriate policies. “Let us, I especially invite my team and all of you, if I lead, I like to lead with facts, facts, reality, with the actual situation. Sometimes the facts are not pleasant. Sometimes seeing reality is not pleasant,” he said. The meeting was the first time President Prabowo received more than 150 BRIN researchers at the Presidential Palace to present research results focusing on various strategic fields, including food, energy, environment, and technology. Also present at the meeting were Head of BRIN Arif Satria, Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin, Minister of Communication and Digital Meutya Hafid, Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono, Minister of National Development Planning Rachmat Pambudy, Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, Special Adviser to the President for Communication and Media Hasan Nasbi, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
