Prabowo Introduces Danantara to Villagers, Urges Public Money Must Not Leak
JAKARTA — President Prabowo Subianto introduced the Danantara Investment Management Agency (BPI Danantara) to residents of Tegal Retno Village, Petanahan District, Kebumen Regency, Central Java, on Saturday, 23 May 2026. He was in the village to observe the panen raya tambak budidaya udang (large‑scale shrimp farming harvest).
“Danantara is our sovereign wealth fund. Danantara is an acronym for Daya Anagata Nusantara. Daya means energy, power. Anagata means future,” Prabowo told the crowd.
The Head of State added that Danantara was created to manage the nation’s wealth so that it can endure and be felt by children and grandchildren in Indonesia.
Prabowo noted that Danantara manages 1,040 state‑owned enterprises (BUMN) with assets valued at Rp 17,000 trillion.
Therefore, Prabowo warned Doni and all staff that the public money they manage must not leak. “17,000 trillion, wow! How much is that? So it must be well looked after, Mr Doni and all your staff. Do not let that money leak. Do not let public money disappear, yes,” he said.
Danantara is an investment body formed to manage the nation’s wealth optimally and to fund various national strategic projects.
In its leadership structure, Danantara is led by Rosan Roeslani as Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Then Dony Oskaria as Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Pandu Sjahrir as Chief Investment Officer (CIO).
The establishment of Danantara is laid out in the Bill on the Third Amendment to Law Number 19 of 2003 concerning State‑Owned Enterprises, which was passed in Plenary on Tuesday, 4 February 2025.
The aim of Danantara is to optimise the management of state assets on a large scale and to achieve better coordination.
