Prabowo Instructs Zulhas: Food Staple Prices Must Not Rise Until Eid
The Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs, Zulkifli Hasan, commonly known as Zulhas, has stated that he has received several instructions from President Prabowo Subianto. One of these pertains to food staple prices ahead of Eid.
President Prabowo has requested that there be no increase in food staple prices during the fasting month leading up to Eid. “We must ensure that during Ramadhan, starting from Eid, food stocks are monitored strictly,” Zulhas told reporters following a meeting with President Prabowo at the Presidential Palace Complex in Central Jakarta on Monday, 2 March 2026.
“And of course, food staples must be available during Ramadhan and Eid, be affordable, and prices must not rise,” he added.
In addition, President Prabowo has also instructed Zulhas to conduct field visits to ensure that the Free Nutritious Meal Programme (MBG), the Red and White Village Cooperatives (Kopdes), and waste management programmes are running smoothly.
“I have been instructed to conduct visits to ensure that food provision, the Free Nutritious Meal Programme, Village Cooperatives, and waste management are running well,” Zulhas concluded.
