Prabowo Instructs Temporary Closure of SPPG Units That Do Not Meet Standards
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto has instructed the temporary suspension of operations for Satuan Pelayanan Pemenuhan Gizi (SPPG) units that do not yet meet standards, as part of efforts to improve the overall quality of nutritional fulfilment services.
The directive was conveyed to the Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Dadan Hindayana, to ensure that all SPPG units comply with hygiene, sanitation, halal, and food safety standards before resuming operations.
“SPPG units that are inadequate should be temporarily closed and their quality immediately improved,” said Dadan, conveying the President’s special message delivered on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, in his statement on Monday (23/3/2026).
These three certifications are expected to serve as the main foundation in guaranteeing the safety, cleanliness, and quality of food served to the public.
“After these three certifications are fulfilled, certification related to the quality of SPPG human resources will follow, including chefs, food handlers, and environmental analysts,” Dadan continued.
Previously, suspensions had been carried out following evaluations that showed several units did not meet operational standards and facility completeness.
Similar actions have also been implemented in 717 Satuan Pelayanan Pemenuhan Gizi (SPPG) units in eastern Indonesia.
The unregistered SPPG units are spread across several provinces, including West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, West Kalimantan, South Sulawesi, Maluku, and several areas in Papua.
