Investment and Downstreaming Minister Rosan Roeslani revealed that President Prabowo Subianto issued several directives during a meeting with the boards of directors and commissioners of banks under the Association of State-Owned Banks (Himbara). One key instruction was for the state-owned banks to broaden financing access and lower interest rates for micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) players.

“The President’s directive to all banks, as well as the boards of commissioners and leadership, is that we must view Indonesia as a whole with great optimism and positivity going forward,” Rosan said after the meeting at the Presidential Palace, as quoted from Media Indonesia on Thursday, 18 June 2026.

Rosan stated that Prabowo highlighted the interest rate disparity that small entrepreneurs have faced. Prabowo requested that state banks provide equal opportunities for all levels of business, from MSMEs to corporations.

The CEO of Danantara emphasised that small and medium enterprises, which sometimes receive higher interest rates than corporations, should in the future be at the same level, or even lower.

“It must be lower because this is truly felt by the community, especially MSMEs,” Rosan said.

On the other hand, the government’s optimism regarding future national economic resilience is also driven by easing global tensions. Rosan mentioned that the agreement between United States President Donald Trump and the Iranian government has had a positive impact on energy commodity stability.

“With the agreement between President Trump and the Iranian government, the oil price has also been reported to have fallen below USD 80 per barrel. The hope is that this will also provide positive sentiment for our economy,” Rosan concluded.
