Prabowo Instructs IPDN Graduates: Work Honestly and Do Not Corrupt

President Prabowo Subianto delivered a strong message to 1,204 graduates of the Institute of Domestic Governance (IPDN) during their inauguration as young civil servants at the IPDN campus in Jatinangor, Sumedang, on Wednesday, urging them to work honestly and shun corruption. He reminded the new public administrators that the people do not need a convoluted bureaucracy or corrupt state officials. “The people need, indeed the people demand, apparatuses who work honestly, are disciplined, clean, not corrupt, brave in making decisions, and always present when the people need them. The people demand state apparatuses who prioritise the people’s interests, not personal or group interests,” Prabowo said. He emphasised that being a civil servant is not merely about holding a rank or position. He stressed that the honour of a state apparatus is not measured by their position, but by how much benefit the people feel from their service. “You are servants of the people. You must serve, protect, and nurture the community. Nurture the Indonesian people as best you can,” he stated. Prabowo declared that civil servants are the face and symbol of the state wherever they serve. Therefore, he stressed that their attitude and appearance will shape the people’s assessment of the state. “Whether the state is present or not, whether the state is orderly or not, whether the state is a source of pride or not, whether our state is honourable or not,” he remarked. Prabowo urged all civil servants to perform their duties to the best of their ability, stating that their performance will determine the people’s love and trust in the state. “But if you disappoint the people, it is not only your name that is ruined, but also the people’s trust in the state,” he concluded.
