Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subiando has instructed the Minister of Health, Budi Gunadi Sadikin, to ensure that hospitals do not differentiate services between patients using BPJS (National Health Insurance) and non-BPJS patients.

At the Indonesian Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Monday afternoon, President Prabowo chaired a limited meeting regarding BPJS Kesehatan. The meeting was attended by Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin, Minister of Finance Suahasil Nazara, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian, Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf, and the President Director of BPJS Kesehatan, Prihati Pujowaskito.

“The President’s hope during the meeting was to ensure that BPJS services are improved and that queues are shortened. If a patient is admitted, they must be served well. Furthermore, it must be ensured that all existing hospitals do not discriminate between BPJS and non-BPJS patients,” said Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin, explaining the meeting’s outcomes during a press conference alongside the Minister of Finance and the President Director of BPJS Kesehatan.

During the meeting, Minister Budi—commonly known as BGS—continued by stating that President Prabowo also received a report regarding a total fund injection of Rp20 trillion from the State Budget (APBN) for health insurance in 2026.

“Representatives from BPJS also asked: Sir, we need certainty that the financial side is maintained. Fortunately, the Minister of Finance is present here, and the Minister has provided clarity on how BPJS will be sustained, provided that services to the community remain good and the community’s needs are met; the finances will be ensured to be stable,” said BGS.

Following the meeting, during the same press conference, Minister of Finance Suahasil Nazara explained that the Rp20 trillion injection is an addition to the budget already allocated for 96.8 million subsidy recipients.

“For those receiving contribution subsidies, the budget is approximately Rp47 trillion. The additional amount is now Rp20 trillion, which will be disbursed soon to support BPJS finances this October. This means within two days, and also in November, so that BPJS finances will be well-covered,” said Minister Suahasil.

Subsequently, the President Director of BPJS, Prihati Pujowaskito, expressed gratitude to President Prabowo and the government for the additional Rp20 trillion fund injection.

Prihati added that BPJS is currently undergoing improvements to enhance service quality, including efforts to eradicate fraudulent practices in healthcare services. “We promise to improve the quality of service to participants to better meet their needs,” said Prihati.
