Prabowo instructs formation of task force to accelerate deregulation
Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto has instructed the Minister for State Secretariat (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi to prepare the formation of a task force for accelerating deregulation. According to President Prabowo, the task force is necessary to simplify various regulations and business licensing that have long been considered overly layered. “Mensesneg, I request that experts be gathered later to form a special task force to accelerate deregulation. Simplify it, don’t make it more difficult,” Prabowo stated during the Handover of Administrative Fines and Forest Area Land at the Attorney General’s Office, Jakarta, on Wednesday. He then compared the situation to several neighbouring countries in Southeast Asia that can issue business permits in just two weeks. “If they (neighbouring countries) can issue permits in two weeks, why do we take two years? Simplify the regulations,” he said. In addition, the deregulation step is also considered important to maintain investor confidence who wish to invest and operate businesses in Indonesia. “Businesspeople must be assisted and supported. The naughty ones, we will discipline. But those who are good, who really want to work, must be helped,” the President added.
