Prabowo Instructs Cabinet Secretary Teddy to Find Land for Building People's Schools in Bali
President Prabowo Subianto wishes to see an increase in the number of ‘People’s Schools’ in Bali. Consequently, he has instructed Cabinet Secretary (Seskab) Teddy Indra Wijaya to coordinate with relevant ministries and agencies to expand these educational facilities across the province.
This directive was issued by President Prabowo during a visit to the Sekolah Rakyat Menengah Pertama (SRMP) 17 Tabanan, Bali, on Sunday, 7 June 2026. The President initially questioned the Minister of Social Affairs, Saifullah Yusuf (known as Gus Ipul), regarding the current number of such schools in Bali, to which the Minister replied that only one currently exists.
President Prabowo has called upon all regents and mayors in Bali to coordinate with the Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) to establish more schools. He noted that if local governments are unable to provide land, the central government would step in to prepare it. ‘We will endeavour to make it happen; we must find ways, and creativity is required. All requests must be accommodated,’ he stated.
Furthermore, the President ordered Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya to coordinate with other ministries and agencies to identify underutilised government-owned land that could be used for the construction of temporary school buildings until permanent structures are completed.
In his address, the President also encouraged students to study hard to improve their families’ futures and to maintain good manners. ‘We must all work hard; students must study well, intensely, and with discipline, while remaining respectful to their teachers. Always love your parents; they work hard for you, and whatever their occupation, it is noble. You must eventually uplift your parents; you are their hope,’ he said, adding that politeness and kindness are key to success.
