Prabowo inspects new Indonesian Air Force weaponry at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base

President Prabowo Subianto inspected 11 new primary weapon systems (alutsista) belonging to the Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU) parked at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base, East Jakarta, on Monday. The inspection included Rafale fighter jets, Falcon 8X aircraft, and GCI GM403 radar systems.

President Prabowo began the ceremony by performing a traditional water-sprinkling ritual on a Rafale aircraft using a ‘kendi’ (traditional clay pitcher), accompanied by applause. Following this, the President symbolically handed over the keys of the Rafale fighter jet to the Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces, General Agus Subiyanto, who then passed them to the Chief of Staff of the Air Force, Air Marshal Mohamad Tonny Harjono.

Accompanied by Defence Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, the Commander of the TNI, and the Chief of Staff of the Air Force, President Prabowo inspected each of the displayed weapon systems. He also examined the Meteor missiles and Smart Weapon Hammer displayed in front of the Rafale fighter jets. After reviewing the missiles, which serve as the primary armament for the Rafale, the President proceeded to inspect the GCI GM403 radar, where he received detailed briefings from accompanying officers.

Following the inspection of the radar and a greeting to the troops, President Prabowo moved to inspect four Falcon 8X aircraft lined up behind the Rafale jets. After the inspection, the President addressed the media for a press conference.

It is noted that the Rafale fighter jets are part of a new acquisition for the Indonesian Air Force, with deliveries expected to continue through 2026. So far, six Rafale jets have arrived out of a total planned fleet of 42. In addition to the Rafale, this year’s arrivals include one A400M transport aircraft, four Falcon 8X aircraft, and the GCI GM403 radar system.
