Prabowo Inspects Merah Putih Fishermen's Village in Gorontalo
President Prabowo Subianto inspected the Merah Putih Fishermen’s Village in South Leato, Gorontalo, on Saturday, 9 May 2026. The village is one of the first-phase fishermen’s village projects that has already begun operations.
Prabowo arrived in Gorontalo after previously visiting Miangas Island in the Talaud Islands, North Sulawesi, on the same day. “Today, I had the opportunity to stop by Gorontalo. The Chairman of the Gerindra Party stated that several facilities at the Merah Putih Fishermen’s Village in Gorontalo are already usable. These include ice makers and cold storage warehouses for fishermen.
Prabowo claimed that the fishermen’s village programme will improve the lives of fishermen and increase their welfare. “We want all fishermen in Indonesia to have better lives. Their income must increase because fishermen play a very important role in our nation’s life,” said the former defence minister.
Before going to Gorontalo, Prabowo first stopped by Miangas Island. Prabowo visited Miangas after attending the 48th ASEAN Summit in Cebu, Philippines.
