Prabowo Inspects Corn Harvest: Drives 'Combine Corn Harvester' Tractor, Wears Cowboy Hat
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - President Prabowo Subianto took part in a corn harvest during the Simultaneous Corn Harvest for the Second Quarter of 2026, held in Tuban, East Java, on Saturday (16 May 2026). Here are some moments and photos from the event.
According to photographs received from the Presidential Secretariat on Sunday (17 May 2026), Prabowo was seen directly involved in the harvest, wearing a cream-coloured safari shirt and a cowboy hat.
Prabowo drove a ‘Combine Corn Harvester’ tractor himself, harvesting corn alongside local farmers. This moment attracted attention from participants and attendees, demonstrating Prabowo’s direct support for the modernisation of the national agricultural sector.
The vast expanse of yellowing cornfields served as the backdrop for the simultaneous harvest event held in various regions of Indonesia.
The activity is part of efforts to strengthen national food security and provide government support for increasing agricultural productivity and farmer welfare across different regions.
Sigit also revealed that some of the harvested crops would be exported to Malaysia. “One hundred tons of corn from the harvest will be exported to Malaysia via the Jagoi-Babang border in Bengkayang Regency, West Kalimantan,” Sigit explained.
He added that specifically in Tuban Regency, the mass harvest was carried out on an area of 101.5 hectares, which is social forestry land. “From this land area, the potential yield is estimated at 609 tons, and all harvested crops will be sent to Bulog to support strengthening government food reserves and maintaining supply stability,” Sigit said.
The simultaneous corn harvest event is one of the concrete steps taken by the government to strengthen national food self-sufficiency, increase agricultural productivity, and open up export market opportunities for Indonesian agricultural products.
