JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto carried out a surprise inspection (sidak) at the Bulog warehouse in Danurejo, Magelang Regency, Central Java, on Saturday (18/4/2026). The inspection was conducted to ensure the availability and smooth distribution of national food reserves, particularly rice. Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated that the visit was carried out spontaneously after the President attended a briefing for DPRD leaders across Indonesia. “The President suddenly asked if he wanted to see the Bulog warehouse in Magelang or Yogyakarta upon returning from the DPRD leaders’ event,” said the Cabinet Secretary in his statement on Saturday. “The President wanted to ensure directly that our food reserves, especially rice, are in a safe condition and ready to be distributed to the public,” he continued. The Danurejo Bulog warehouse visited has two building units with a total capacity of 7,000 tonnes. Currently, the warehouse is reported to be fully filled, indicating sufficient rice stocks for the Magelang City and Regency areas. “The President also emphasised that in addition to availability, the quality of rice must be continuously maintained, and its distribution must be timely and on target so that the benefits are truly felt by the public,” added the Cabinet Secretary. This is particularly important amid global challenges such as energy and food crises occurring in several countries due to geopolitical conflicts. In this context, the government ensures that food supply and prices in Indonesia remain stable. “This is the government’s commitment to strengthening national food resilience and ensuring the state is always present in meeting the basic needs of the people,” concluded Cabinet Secretary Teddy.
