President Prabowo Subiando held a limited meeting with several ministers of the Red and White Cabinet at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Monday, 28 September 2026. The meeting addressed the services of BPJS Kesehatan and the strengthening of the National Health Insurance (JKN) programme’s finances to ensure that claims from healthcare facilities remain sustainable.

The Minister of Health, Budi Gunadi Sadikin, stated that the government has approved an additional Rp20 trillion for BPJS Kesehatan this year. This matter was discussed during the meeting with President Prabowo.

“Coincidentally, the Minister of Finance, the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Social Affairs, and I agreed two weeks ago to the disbursement of Rp10 trillion plus another Rp10 trillion, making a total of Rp20 trillion for BPJS (Kesehatan) this year,” Budi told journalists at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, on Monday, 28 September 2026.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Finance, Suahasil Nazara, explained that the additional funds are already available within the 2026 State Budget (APBN). According to him, strengthening the finances of BPJS Kesehatan is necessary to ensure that claims from hospitals can be paid regularly.

“The addition is currently Rp20 trillion and will be disbursed immediately to support BPJS finances this October—in two days—and also in November,” said Suahasil.

During the meeting, progress on JKN membership was reported, which has now reached 285 million people, with an active participation rate of 80.6 per cent. Suahasil stated that the government will continue to encourage premium collection and improve the accuracy of subsidy recipients in accordance with the National Socio-Economic Single Data (DTSEN).

“We are encouraging better BPJS premium collection, and ensuring that the accuracy of subsidy recipients is improved according to the DTSEN data,” Suahasil remarked.

Furthermore, the President Director of BPJS Kesehatan, Prihati Pujowaskito, conveyed that premiums collected to date have reached Rp118 trillion, while the value of healthcare services paid out has reached Rp132 trillion. This situation, he noted, has created a cash flow deficit that must be addressed to ensure payments to healthcare facilities continue smoothly.

“Therefore, we are grateful to the President, the government, and the Minister for providing this Rp20 trillion injection, of which Rp10 trillion will be disbursed this month and the remaining Rp10 trillion will be disbursed in November before the end of the year,” said Prihati.
