Prabowo: Indonesia's education digitalisation recognised globally
President Prabowo Subianto has revealed that Indonesia’s education digitalisation innovation recently received an award from the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), a body under the United Nations (UN).
President Prabowo said the ITU ranked Indonesia first out of 122 countries in the e-government and education digitalisation category. This, he continued, is proof that Indonesia’s education digitalisation is increasingly recognised globally.
“We have just received good news from the UN. The International Telecommunication Union gave the highest award to us, Indonesia, out of 122 countries in the e-government and education digitalisation categories,” Prabowo said during a Plenary Cabinet Session at the State Palace in Jakarta on Monday.
The recognition referred to by President Prabowo is the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Prizes, held on 9 July 2026. Indonesia, represented by the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, won first place in the e-government category through the Rumah Pendidikan programme.
Rumah Pendidikan is an application that provides various educational services on a single platform. Through the application, students can access learning materials, while teaching staff can exchange ideas and share thoughts with fellow educators.
The President said the application greatly assists students in accessing 4,843 free learning materials and supports teaching staff in underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost regions. He added that the application currently has 6.9 million users.
“This award from the UN proves that our education digitalisation is recognised globally. We are leaping forward, we are leaping forward,” he said.
Nevertheless, the President reminded all his ranks not to become complacent quickly. According to him, the journey to improve the quality and equity of national education is still long. Therefore, the government will continue to commit to accelerating education digitalisation so that communities in underdeveloped and outermost regions can access the best quality education.
On that occasion, Prabowo said the government will distribute 700,000 interactive digital panels by the end of 2026 or the first semester of 2027. This addition will enable each school to have three additional interactive screens.
“What does this mean? It means that our children and our teachers throughout Indonesia have access to the best learning materials,” he stated.
