Jakarta, VIVA – President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto stressed that Indonesians do not have dreams of becoming rich. Rather, they want to live a decent life. He said this during the 19th Plenary Session of the DPR RI for the Fifth Session Year 2025-2026, in the Context of Presenting the Macro Economic Framework (KEM) and the Key Policy of Fiscal (PPKF) for the RAPBN for the Fiscal Year 2027, at the Nusantara Building of MPR/DPR/DPD-RI, Jakarta on Wednesday, 20 May 2026.

Initially, Prabowo believed that Indonesia could become a prosperous and just country if Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution was implemented genuinely and consistently.

“I want to emphasise today my conviction that if we implement Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution properly, truly and consistently, our country will have sufficient resources to ensure Indonesia will indeed become a prosperous and just country,” he said.

The head of state stressed that Indonesians do not inherently have excessive dreams of living in luxury. According to him, the people simply want to live decently with their basic needs met.

“Our people do not dream of experiencing a wealthy life, but they dream of being able to live with dignity, properly,” he said.

He noted that the public also hopes to meet daily needs, provide good education for their children, and access adequate health services.

“They dream of being able to eat well every day, to provide milk for their children, to obtain medicine if their child is sick,” he added.

In addition, the people yearn for decent housing and jobs with incomes sufficient to sustain their families.

Prabowo admitted that he has grown more convinced of the importance of upholding the mandate of the 1945 Constitution after seeing the wealth of Indonesia’s natural resources.

“After I have evaluated, after I have looked at the figures, after I have seen how vast our wealth is, I am increasingly confident that implementing the 1945 Constitution must be a responsibility for all of us,” he concluded.
