President Prabowo Subianto has asserted that Indonesia’s foreign policy stance remains free and active. Prabowo stated that Indonesia respects all countries and global powers. This was conveyed by Prabowo during a speech at the 28th Anniversary of the National Awakening Party (PKB) at the Jakarta Convention Centre (JCC) Senayan, Jakarta, on Thursday (23/4/2026). “As soon as I was inaugurated, Indonesia’s foreign policy, we are grateful that we are non-aligned. We respect all countries, all powers, brothers and sisters. We want to be free and active,” said Prabowo. In his administration, Prabowo stated that Indonesia’s foreign policy stance is to be a good neighbour. “I say that Indonesia’s foreign policy led by Prabowo Subianto, our policy is to be a good neighbour. The good neighbour,” he said. Nevertheless, Prabowo mentioned one principle that is non-negotiable. That principle is the Indonesian government’s consistent stance in supporting Palestinian independence. “We are good to all powers. But what cannot be bargained over is Palestinian independence,” he stressed. Prabowo said that the foreign policy stance adopted by Indonesia is intended to ensure the country is not disturbed by other nations. On the other hand, Prabowo emphasised that Indonesia is currently building a strong defence. “We are good to everyone. We want to be good to all powers. But we do not want to be disturbed. We are now building our defence strength,” said Prabowo. “But our defence strength is a universal people’s defence,” he added.
