Prabowo: Indonesian Businessmen Have Many Sins!

President Prabowo Subianto has issued a stern jibe at Indonesian entrepreneurs, claiming they have many sins from the past. He asserted that businesspeople cannot lie to him, as he has known many HIPMI members since they were young. This was conveyed by Prabowo during the XVIII HIPMI National Conference in Bandar Lampung on Wednesday, 10 June 2026. “Indonesian businessmen have many sins. Right? You cannot lie to me, I already understand. Those HIPMI figures I have known since they were young,” Prabowo said in his speech. Nevertheless, Prabowo stated that it is fine if past sins are closed. What is most important is that in the future, businesspeople can run their company management properly and not violate the law. “But let it be, it’s okay if we cover up our sins. We rise to the future. Now, do not try to break the law,” he said. He alluded to today’s increasingly sophisticated technology, noting that any form of cheating can be easily detected using it. “You will lose, why? Now there is technology. Now there is AI, there is intelligence. Now all documents, this thick, can be read in 5 minutes. A contract this thick, 5 minutes,” he stated. “So, brothers and sisters, let us achieve a good future. We master, we control everything for the greatest prosperity of our people,” he continued.
