President Prabowo Subianto has reaffirmed that Indonesia is a non-aligned nation that respects all countries. The president stated that the Indonesian nation is on the correct path and does not favour any particular country.

This statement came in response to the escalating conflict between the United States, Israel, and Iran roiling the Middle East.

“Our nation, our country is on the correct path. We are on a path of non-alignment, we have always been on the path of active independence and non-bloc status. We do not wish to join any bloc. We respect all powers, we respect all nations, that is Indonesia,” Prabowo said during an online press conference on Monday, 9 March 2026.

“Bhinneka Tunggal Ika within our nation, but also internationally we respect all peoples, respect all religions, respect all races, respect all ethnic groups,” he added.

Prabowo acknowledged that the current global dynamics are unfavourable. He noted that wars are occurring in various regions, including Europe. Currently, he said, almost the entire Middle East is experiencing turmoil.

“Our world is now filled with dangerous dynamics. Wars are breaking out everywhere, almost in all regions of the world, especially in the Middle East. Some time ago we realised there was a major war in Europe, in Ukraine. Now almost the entire Middle East is affected,” he stated.

On the other hand, Indonesia’s geographic location is far from these conflicts. However, he acknowledged that such conflicts could influence other nations.

“Although we are geographically far from those places, our earth has truly become small. What happens in one region will affect other regions,” he concluded.
