Prabowo: Indonesia Projected to Become World's Fourth Largest Economy by 2050

President Prabowo Subianto has stated that numerous global experts predict Indonesia will become the fourth largest and richest country in the world by 2045 to 2050, a position that would place it ahead of Japan and several other developed nations. “Many experts around the world have predicted that by 2045 to 2050, Indonesia will be the fourth largest and richest country in the world,” Prabowo said while leading the TNI Grand Harvest event at Abdulrachman Saleh Air Base in Malang Regency, East Java, on Friday.

Referring to these expert forecasts, Prabowo noted that China is projected to have the world’s largest economy by 2050, with the United States and India following. He added that countries such as the United Kingdom, France, and Brazil are also predicted to rank below Indonesia. “In 2050, China will be number one, America number two, India number three, and Indonesia number four. Then in 2075, India will rise. And us? We’ll be okay, fourth in the world, can we accept that?” Prabowo asked the audience.

He continued, “By 2040 or 2050, we will be above Japan, above the United Kingdom, above Brazil, and above France. That is why we must be ready now.” The President therefore emphasised that the government and all elements of the nation must begin preparing for this major target early. “The year 2050 is 25 years from now. So children who are 10 years old today, still in primary school, will be 35 years old in 25 years. They will be the ones leading the Indonesian nation. So if we do not take care of those children now, how can we become the fourth largest country in the world? We must eliminate hunger. We must eliminate poverty, especially extreme poverty,” Prabowo asserted.
