Prabowo: Indonesia is Secure on Food Security
Jakarta — President Prabowo Subianto has stated that Indonesia is in a secure position concerning food security amid a global situation marked by geopolitical tension and economic uncertainty.
He conveyed his confidence during a virtual ceremony inaugurating 218 bridges distributed throughout Indonesia on Monday, 9 March 2026.
“Many people will face difficulties, but at minimum we are secure in matters of food security,” Prabowo said on Monday, citing a broadcast from the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube channel.
Therefore, Indonesia must strengthen national self-reliance and remain vigilant about the current geopolitical situation.
“We are in a world situation full of danger. Powerful parties are in conflict and could drag other nations into difficult circumstances,” Prabowo stated.
The government, according to Prabowo, continues to monitor and carefully study various economic indicators and the potential of national resources.
“I have reviewed and studied figures every day. We are discovering new wealth. We may experience difficulties, I will not hide that, but my assessment is that we will emerge from this crisis in a stronger, more prosperous, and more self-reliant state,” Prabowo said.
On this occasion, Prabowo expressed his hope that Indonesia in the future will become a nation no longer dependent on petroleum fuel (BBM).
Prabowo also emphasised the importance of national food security as the main foundation in facing global uncertainty.
“I simply want to convey that our strength, our truly extraordinary wealth, should be managed better and controlled better,” Prabowo said.
