Prabowo: Indonesia Is Now Held in High Regard Worldwide, Many Countries Seek Our Help

President Prabowo Subianto said his position is respected by other countries during a foreign visit. He noted that many countries are asking Indonesia for help.

He delivered the remarks during a plenary session at the Parliament complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday (20 May 2026). Prabowo initially disclosed that many international institutions and experts forecast Indonesia would become one of the world’s largest economies by 2045.

‘World experts, world institutions estimate that in 2045, just 19 years from now, Indonesia will be the fifth economy, even the fourth largest in the world. This is not something I am saying,’ he said.

Prabowo admitted he never imagined Indonesia could reach that position. His aim is a decent life and the welfare of the people.

‘I myself never dreamed, or hoped. We only want to live decently. But they say we will be the fourth, or fifth. Imagine us overtaking the United Kingdom, France, Italy,’ he said.

Prabowo went on to describe his role as President as being highly respected in the eyes of the world. He said many countries are seeking Indonesia’s help, for example fertiliser so it can be exported to Australia, Brazil and India.

‘When I go abroad as the President of Indonesia, I am very respected now. Very respected. They are now asking for our assistance. They request fertiliser from us, because our fertiliser production is greater,’ he said.

‘We are being asked for help by Australia. We have provided it. India, Brazil, the Philippines—imagine, Indonesia now can help richer countries than us,’ he added.

However, Prabowo warned that such achievements should not make Indonesia arrogant. He urged all parties to treat it as a spur to increase self-confidence.

‘This should not make us arrogant. But it should make us more confident. Indeed there are still many shortcomings. And I am the kind of person who always invites others to face our shortcomings bravely. We must be brave in facing difficulties. We must be brave in facing challenges. We must be able to overcome the misappropriations in our economy. If so, we will grow extraordinarily,’ he said.
