Prabowo: Indonesia is a United and Cooperative Nation
President Prabowo Subianto has asserted that the Indonesian nation is one whose people are united and practise gotong royong (mutual cooperation). He considered this to be proven by the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the Indonesian National Police (Polri) working together to build infrastructure in the regions.
This was conveyed by President Prabowo Subianto during the virtual inauguration of the Merah Putih Presisi bridge on Thursday, 13 August 2026.
“Today we prove that the Indonesian nation is a truly united nation. A nation of gotong royong. A nation that is able to harness our own strength to work as hard as possible for the prosperity and good of the people,” said Prabowo.
Prabowo stated that the TNI-Polri successfully built 3,395 bridges and 3,000 clean water sources to assist the community. He also expressed his pride in both institutions.
“Today we inaugurate 3,395 bridges that have been built by the TNI and Polri and 3,000 clean water sources that have been built by the Indonesian Army,” said Prabowo.
“On behalf of the government, on behalf of all Indonesian people, and on a personal note, I would like to express my appreciation and thanks to the Army Chief of Staff and the National Police Chief, as well as to officials in the Army and the National Police and all members of the TNI and all members of the Polri,” he added.
The Head of State said that the TNI and Polri have served the people. He stressed that servants of the state must indeed return to the people.
“You have carried out missions of service, missions of devotion to the people. You are proof that the TNI is truly the people’s army and the Polri is truly the people’s police,” he said.
According to the President, the construction of basic infrastructure such as bridges and water sources is an important part of efforts to improve the people’s welfare.
Prabowo conveyed that the government still needs major investment to carry out various development projects, but attention must also be paid to the development of the people’s basic needs.
“We may be able to carry out more brilliant projects. We need massive investment, but we have just understood and we must always understand that the state must be present for the most remote people,” said Prabowo.
