President Prabowo Subianto highlighted the benefits of Indonesia’s food self-sufficiency, stating the nation is now far better prepared than many countries struggling to secure key commodities. ‘We are now food self-sufficient, while many nations face difficulties, we are already better prepared,’ Prabowo said during his speech at the Pancasila Birthday Commemoration ceremony at Gedung Pancasila in Central Jakarta on Monday, 1 June 2026. He noted Indonesia’s abundant natural resources, including copper, tin, gold, and rare earth metals, as well as being a major producer of palm oil, coal, nickel, and other vital agricultural products. However, he acknowledged these resources have long not been fully utilised for national prosperity, with added value lost overseas due to insufficient downstream processing projects. As head of state, Prabowo stressed the need for economic transformation—from an economy not fully grounded in Pancasila principles to one firmly based on them—emphasising a humanistic, nationally unifying economic model managed for collective benefit rather than a select few. ‘We believe natural wealth is not merely an economic commodity but a divine trust to be managed responsibly for the greatest prosperity of the people and future generations,’ he concluded.
