PRESIDENT of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, officially launched the operations of 1,061 Merah Putih Village/Urban Cooperatives (KDKMP) for the regions of East Java and Central Java. The inauguration, which took place at the Nglawak KDKMP in Kertosono, Nganjuk, East Java, on Saturday (May 16th), is considered a historic moment for strengthening the people’s economy.

President Prabowo stated that the presence of KDKMPs represents an important milestone in Indonesian history. This is because the government has been able to build a massive cooperative ecosystem in a relatively short period, namely within seven months since physical construction began in November 2025.

“I think if you look at other countries, especially in our nation’s history, there hasn’t been a government that can inaugurate the operationalization of more than 1,000 cooperatives physically. I think today is quite an important day,” said President Prabowo Subianto.

In his speech, the Head of State explained that KDKMPs will be the main foundation in the government’s strategy to build the economy from the village and urban levels. This program does not stand alone but will be integrated with other national initiatives to create an economic domino effect.

The President detailed that KDKMPs will synergize with the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program as well as the Merah Putih Fishermen Village (KNMP). This integration is expected to accelerate the process of downstreaming and industrialization at the village level.

“The MBG program, if supported by KDKMPs and will later be supported by the Merah Putih Fishermen Village (KNMP). The end result is downstreaming and industrialization. Through KDKMPs, we will provide affordable credit for the people,” explained President Prabowo.

President Prabowo expressed his high appreciation to the ministers and heads of agencies/institutions in the Merah Putih Cabinet who have worked hard to realize this program. He emphasized the importance of strengthening cross-sectoral synergy so that KDKMPs truly become an instrument that changes the direction of the Indonesian economy in accordance with the mandate of the constitution.

According to him, the strength of the national economy depends greatly on the fundamental strength at the village level. With healthy and productive cooperatives, Indonesia is believed to have more resilient economic stability.

“Let’s move forward together with confidence that through these cooperatives, the Indonesian economy will become strong because our fundamentals are strong,” concluded President Prabowo. (I-2)
