President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated the KH Muhammad Thohir Regional General Hospital (RSUD) in Krui, West Pesisir Regency, Lampung Province, on Wednesday (10/6/2026). In his speech, the head of state stressed that strengthening the healthcare sector is part of the government’s efforts to build a strong national economy and improve the quality of services for the public. “We want to build a good, strong economy. We want to manage our natural resources and wealth so that we can provide better services to the people,” Prabowo said at the inauguration alongside Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin.

Prabowo noted the importance of accessible healthcare services for the public, especially in the regions. He stated that the government has prepared a programme for the construction and renovation of hospitals across various regencies in Indonesia. “The government will continue to improve healthcare services. Together with the Minister of Health and the government, I have planned that in the next three years, we will build, or where possible repair and renovate, 350 to 400 hospitals in all regencies across Indonesia,” he said.

Besides hospitals, Prabowo noted that the government is also working to strengthen primary healthcare through the modernisation of community health centre (puskesmas) facilities. He explained that the national healthcare modernisation programme has commenced with the distribution of modern medical equipment to various regions. “Currently, we have distributed nearly 1,000 units of modern medical equipment. We have begun distribution to all regional hospitals in 514 regencies/cities. Just now it was reported that this hospital, for example, has started to have modern equipment, and this will continue to be improved,” he explained.

On this occasion, Prabowo conveyed the progress of regional hospital development carried out by the government. This work will continue as part of the national healthcare infrastructure strengthening programme. “We built 22 regional public hospitals in 2025, and in 2026 we will build another 22. And I have said that we will build and modernise 350 hospitals over the next three years. Alhamdulillah, the first 20 hospitals have been completed and have started serving the public,” Prabowo said.

He further emphasised the importance of clean governance in healthcare, which also serves as a government commitment to providing affordable medicines for the public. “I also insist there must be no misconduct, no corruption in serving the people. We will strive to provide medicines to the people as cheaply as possible. I hope that within this year we can start providing generic medicines at low prices to the public,” Prabowo stated.

The inauguration of RSUD KH Muhammad Thohir Krui not only symbolises the presence of a new healthcare facility in West Pesisir Regency. Beyond that, the moment underscores Prabowo’s policy direction to accelerate national healthcare transformation, ensuring modern health services reach all corners of Indonesia.

The atmosphere was festive as Prabowo arrived along the roads of West Pesisir Regency, Lampung, on Wednesday. Members of the public crowded various points along the route taken by the head of state during his working visit to the area. Prabowo’s arrival began with his aircraft landing at Muhammad Taufiq Kiemas Airport in Krui. From the airport, Prabowo continued his journey to RSUD KH Muhammad Thohir Krui using ground transportation. Along the way to the event site, the public’s enthusiasm was highly visible. People from all walks of life stood along the roadside to witness Prabowo’s presence in the area on the west coast of Lampung Province.
