Prabowo Inaugurates Regional Hospital in Lampung, 350-400 Hospitals to Be Renovated
President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated the KH Muhammad Thohir Regional General Hospital (RSUD) in Krui, Lampung, on Wednesday, 10 June 2026. Prabowo was accompanied by a number of central government officials, including Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin and Foreign Minister Sugiono.
The inauguration ceremony began with an inspection of the hospital. Broadcast on the Presidential Secretariat’s social media, Prabowo toured the RSUD before delivering his remarks. “I am proud to inaugurate the KH Muhammad Thohir RSUD in Krui, West Pesisir, Lampung,” said the Chairman of the Gerindra Party.
Prabowo expressed his happiness at being able to inaugurate the RSUD in Krui. He voiced hope that the people of Lampung, particularly in West Pesisir Regency, would now have access to more adequate healthcare services.
The former defence minister shared his concern upon hearing that some Indonesians still die from haemorrhaging during childbirth because they cannot reach a distant hospital in time. “We must address this. The government will continue to improve health services,” he stated.
Prabowo announced that his administration plans to renovate 350 to 400 hospitals throughout Indonesia. He also intends to improve 10,000 Puskesmas (community health centres) in various remote corners of the country.
Several officials accompanied Prabowo during the inauguration of the Muhammad Thohir RSUD. Besides the Health and Foreign Ministers, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya from the central government were also in attendance.
Regional officials, including Lampung Governor Rahmat Mirzani Djausal, West Pesisir Regent Dedi Irawan, and RSUD Head Eva Hadaniah Al Syati, were also present. Medical personnel and doctors participated in the event as well.
Prabowo urged that the Muhammad Thohir RSUD be managed properly. “Maintain its cleanliness, implement professional and transparent management, and remain oriented towards serving the people. The community must feel the tangible benefits of this hospital’s presence,” he said.
The improvement of RSUD services is one of President Prabowo’s priority programmes or quick wins. According to Cabinet Secretary Teddy, the government is targeting service quality improvements at 66 RSUDs in underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost regions.
Teddy noted that 20 out of 22 RSUDs had been completed by 2025, with 10 of them already operational. Meanwhile, in 2026, construction has begun on 4 out of 20 planned RSUDs. “In 2027, there are still 24 RSUDs in the planning stage,” Teddy stated in a written release on Wednesday.
