Prabowo Inaugurates New Regional Hospital in Lampung, Prioritising Remote Rural Communities

President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated the KH. Muhammad Thohir Krui Regional General Hospital (RSUD) in West Pesisir Regency, Lampung, on Wednesday (10/6/2026). The hospital represents one of the government’s Program Hasil Terbaik Cepat (PHTC) initiatives to broaden equitable healthcare services, particularly in disadvantaged, frontier, and outermost (3T) regions. RSUD KH. Muhammad Thohir Krui is the result of a facility upgrade from a Class D to a Class C hospital, offering more comprehensive services. The hospital is equipped with an emergency department (IGD), operating theatre, ICU/ICBCU, laboratory, and haemodialysis services, with a capacity of 101 beds. Its service focus includes the treatment of cancer, heart disease, stroke, uro-nephrology, and maternal and child health. The hospital is currently supported by 13 general practitioners, 76 nurses, and 52 midwives to serve communities in West Pesisir and surrounding areas. President Prabowo arrived at the location around 11.30 WIB accompanied by Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin and Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, and toured several hospital facilities. The head of state also spoke with healthcare workers and patients, and obliged requests for photographs from the public. In his remarks, Prabowo stressed the government’s commitment to improving access to healthcare across Indonesia. He highlighted cases where citizens have died due to delayed medical treatment, including mothers who suffered haemorrhaging during childbirth because of the great distance to a hospital. To address this, the government is targeting the construction and renovation of 350–400 hospitals in regencies and cities, the modernisation of 10,000 community health centres (puskesmas), and the distribution of 1,000 modern medical devices to 514 regencies and cities. RSUD KH. Muhammad Thohir Krui itself is one of 66 national loci for the PHTC programme, built with a state budget (APBN) allocation of IDR 152.98 billion, completed in December 2025.
