Prabowo Inaugurates Marsinah Museum: A Rare Event, Possibly the First Labour Museum in the World

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - President Prabowo Subianto stated that the inauguration of the Marsinah Museum in Nganjuk, East Java, is a rare event, possibly the first of its kind in the world.

“I believe this is a rare event; perhaps it is the first labour museum in the world,” Prabowo said during the inauguration of the Marsinah Museum and Rest House in Nglundo Village, Sukomoro District, Nganjuk Regency, East Java, on Saturday (16/5/2026).

Prabowo said that the museum was established as a symbol and a milestone to commemorate the courage of a fighter.

“A young fighter, a female fighter who fought for the rights of labourers,” he said.

“The poor, the powerless, those who have no strength,” he added.

The Head of State then reminded that building a nation is a long, difficult, and challenging endeavour.

He mentioned that in building a nation, various state philosophies can emerge.

“Indeed, the event of Marsinah being brutally murdered for fighting for factory workers should not have happened because our nation was founded on the basic philosophy of Pancasila,” he said.

“It is to Him alone that we pray and to Him alone that we ask for help. We are grateful for all the blessings of goodness, health, and peace that are still given to us as a nation and as human beings,” he said.

“We can gather this morning in Nganjuk Regency to carry out the inauguration of a museum dedicated to remembering the struggle of labourers,” Prabowo continued.
