Prabowo Inaugurates Food Security Warehouses and Polri's SPPG in East Java

President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated the construction of 10 Polri food security warehouses, 166 operational Polri SPPG (Integrated Agricultural Centres) and a large-scale corn harvest in Tuban, East Java, on Saturday (16/5).

The inauguration was carried out symbolically by pressing a siren button, with Prabowo accompanied by Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo and a number of farmers.

“In the name of God, on this Saturday, May 16, 2026, at 15:06 WIB, I, Prabowo Subianto, President of the Republic of Indonesia, hereby inaugurate the construction of 10 Polri food security warehouses and launch the operation of 166 Polri SPPG, as well as the large-scale corn harvest managed by the Indonesian National Police. I declare it has begun,” said Prabowo.

In his speech, Prabowo appreciated the Polri’s efforts in supporting the food security program and the free nutritious meal program.

“Thank you, Indonesian Police, thank you for your achievement in inaugurating the construction of 10 food security warehouses, in addition to the 18 that you have already built, it’s extraordinary. Thank you also for launching the operation of 166 new SPPG, so that you will later play an important role. The total will be 1,500 SPPG,” said Prabowo.

Previously, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo reported that in 2025, the Polri carried out corn planting on an area of 661,112 hectares with a harvest of 3.9 million tons. Sigit said that this amount had supported an increase in national corn production in 2025 by 6.74 percent or 1.8 million tons.

Then in 2026, the Polri again carried out corn planting on an area of 1.37 million hectares spread across Indonesia. On January 8, the first quarter harvest was carried out on an area of 91,000 hectares with a harvest of 884,129 tons.

“Furthermore, today, led by Mr. President, we will carry out a simultaneous second quarter corn harvest on an area of 189,760 hectares with a potential harvest of around 1.23 million tons,” said Sigit.

Sigit said that the Polri had also built 18 storage warehouses on Polri land in 12 provinces. He said that these warehouses were built to support the increase in harvests from farmers.

“Today, the simultaneous groundbreaking for the construction of 10 Polri food security warehouses will be carried out, so that the total number of Polri food security warehouses will reach 28 units, each with a capacity of 1,000 tons and one unit with a capacity of 10,000 tons, which will be completed in June 2026,” said Sigit.

In front of Prabowo, Sigit also said that to date, the Polri has 1,376 SPPG. In detail, 736 SPPG have been operating, 172 SPPG are in preparation for operation and 468 SPPG are under construction.

Sigit said that in 2026, the Polri is targeting to continue construction to reach 1,500 SPPG throughout Indonesia.
