President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated five dams across four provinces on Friday, 10 July 2026. The inauguration was held simultaneously, with Prabowo attending the ceremony at the Meninting Dam in West Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara.

In his address, Prabowo noted that dam construction requires significant time, cost, and resources, often spanning multiple presidencies. “I am grateful that I am the one to inaugurate this dam,” he said in Lombok, as broadcast by the Presidential Secretariat.

The five dams inaugurated are the Meninting Dam in West Nusa Tenggara, the Keureuto and Rukoh dams in Aceh, the Jlantah Dam in Central Java, and the Sidan Dam in Bali. These projects were constructed between 2015 and 2025.

The Gerindra Party chairman revealed that the construction of the five dams cost IDR 9.79 trillion. “The five dams we inaugurate today are a state investment,” Prabowo stated.

He said the dams symbolise the government’s need to work harder to build more infrastructure, as such projects greatly benefit communities through irrigation water supply, flood control, and electricity generation.

On the same occasion, Prabowo also discussed the B50 biodiesel programme he launched on Thursday, 9 July 2026. The B50 scheme mandates that all diesel fuel sold in Indonesia be blended with 50 percent palm oil.

According to Prabowo, the mandatory B50 scheme will save Indonesia IDR 170 trillion per year. “Imagine how many dozens of dams we can build each year. That means 17 times 5, roughly 85,” he said.

Prabowo was accompanied by several Red and White Cabinet officials. Those joining the flight from Jakarta to West Nusa Tenggara included Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.

Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono and Minister of Public Works Dody Hanggodo were also present at the inauguration site in West Lombok.

According to Teddy, the inauguration of the five dams is part of the government’s efforts to strengthen water resource infrastructure. He noted that such resources play a strategic role in supporting food security, raw water supply, flood control, and clean energy development.

“The existence of these dams is expected to provide great benefits to the community, particularly in increasing agricultural productivity, ensuring water availability, and strengthening the foundation for sustainable development,” said the lieutenant colonel.
