Prabowo Inaugurates 5 Dams Across 4 Provinces

President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated five dams on 10 July 2026, located across four different provinces: Aceh, Central Java, Bali, and West Nusa Tenggara. The Gerindra Party chairman attended the ceremony at the Meninting Dam in West Lombok, NTB. “From NTB, the President simultaneously inaugurated five dams in four provinces to strengthen national water, food, and energy security,” said Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya in a statement on Saturday, 11 July 2026. The construction process for these dams began before Prabowo took office, with the infrastructure built between 2015 and 2025. Each dam has a different storage capacity, and the government claims they will irrigate farmland worked by tens of thousands of farmers. The Keureuto Dam in North Aceh Regency, Aceh, is the largest of the five, with a capacity of 215.94 million cubic metres and a reservoir area of 896.15 hectares. The government claims it can support approximately 24,500 to 29,400 farmers with a total irrigation coverage of 14,695 hectares and an irrigation network spanning 75.94 kilometres. It is also expected to reduce flooding across 627 hectares. The Rukoh Dam in Pidie Regency, Aceh, has a capacity of 128.65 million cubic metres and a reservoir area of 700 hectares. It is projected to support between 20,300 and 24,400 farmers, covering 12,194 hectares of irrigation with a 7.39-kilometre network, and reduce flooding across 51 hectares. The Sidan Dam in Gianyar Regency, Bali, has a capacity of 5.76 million cubic metres and a reservoir area of 37.15 hectares. It is expected to support 16,000 to 20,000 farmers, covering 9,598 hectares of irrigation with a 123.19-kilometre network, and reduce flooding across 108 hectares. The Jlantah Dam in Karanganyar Regency, Central Java, has a capacity of 10.97 million cubic metres and a reservoir area of 50 hectares. It is projected to support 3,500 to 4,000 farmers, covering 1,494 hectares of irrigation with a 47.74-kilometre network, and reduce flooding across 87 hectares. The Meninting Dam in West Lombok Regency, NTB, was inaugurated directly by President Prabowo. It has a capacity of 9.91 million cubic metres and a reservoir area of 46.16 hectares. It is expected to support more than 3,000 farmers, covering 1,559 hectares of irrigation with a 25.72-kilometre network, and reduce flooding across 59 hectares.
