Prabowo Inaugurates 5 Dams Across 4 Provinces
President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated five dams on 10 July 2026. All five are located across four different provinces: Aceh, Central Java, Bali and West Nusa Tenggara.
The Gerindra Party chairman attended the ceremony at Meninting Dam in West Lombok, NTB. “From NTB, President Prabowo has inaugurated five dams across four provinces simultaneously to strengthen national water, food and energy security,” said Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya in a statement on Saturday, 11 July 2026.
Construction of the five dams began before Prabowo took office. The infrastructure was built between 2015 and 2025 and was finally inaugurated this year.
Each dam has a different storage capacity. The government claims some of them can irrigate land worked by tens of thousands of farmers. Which dams did Prabowo inaugurate?
Keureuto Dam
Keureuto Dam is located in North Aceh Regency, Aceh Province. The infrastructure can hold up to 215.94 million cubic metres of water with an inundation area of 896.39 hectares, making it the largest dam Prabowo inaugurated on this occasion.
The government claims Keureuto Dam can support approximately 24,500 to 29,400 farmers with a total irrigation coverage of 14,695 hectares. The dam also has an irrigation network extending up to 75.94 kilometres. The structure is claimed to be able to reduce flooding across 627 hectares.
Rukoh Dam
Rukoh Dam stands in Pidie Regency, Aceh Province, with a storage capacity of 128.65 million cubic metres of water. The inundation area of the infrastructure reaches 700 hectares.
According to the Cabinet Secretariat, Rukoh Dam can support approximately 20,300 to 24,400 farmers. It has a total irrigation coverage of 12,194 hectares and an irrigation network length of 7.39 kilometres. The dam is claimed to be able to reduce flooding by up to 51 hectares.
Sidan Dam
Sidan Dam was built in Gianyar Regency, Bali Province, with a water storage capacity of up to 5.76 million cubic metres. Its inundation area is 37.15 hectares.
Sidan Dam is said to be able to support approximately 16,000 to 20,000 farmers with a total irrigation coverage of 9,598 hectares and an irrigation network length of 123.19 kilometres. The dam is claimed to be able to reduce flooding across 108 hectares.
Jlantah Dam
Jlantah Dam is located in Karanganyar Regency, Central Java Province. The dam can hold 10.97 million cubic metres of water. It has an inundation area of 50 hectares.
The government claims Jlantah Dam can support approximately 3,500 to 4,000 farmers with a total irrigation coverage of 1,494 hectares and an irrigation network length of 47.74 kilometres. The dam is said to be able to reduce flooding by up to 87 hectares.
Meninting Dam
Meninting Dam was inaugurated in person by Prabowo. The dam stands in West Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara Province.
Its storage capacity is 9.91 million cubic metres with an inundation area of 46.16 hectares. Meninting Dam is said to be able to support more than 3,000 farmers. It has a total irrigation coverage of 1,559 hectares and an irrigation network length of 25.72 kilometres. It is said to be able to reduce flooding across 59 hectares.
