Prabowo Inaugurates 166 New Polri Nutrition Service Units to Support Free Nutritious Meal Program
The Indonesian National Police (Polri) has announced the operational readiness of 166 Nutrition Service Units (SPPG), inaugurated by President Prabowo Subianto in a simultaneous ceremony from Tuban Regency, East Java, on Saturday (16/5). This initiative is part of the acceleration of the Free Nutritious Meal Program (MBG) and the strengthening of national food security.
Head of the Polri MBG Task Force, Irjen Pol Nurworo Danang, explained that all units have made thorough preparations to ensure the optimal operation of the SPPG services. The program is described as a concrete manifestation of the President’s Asta Cita in building a healthy and competitive generation of Indonesians.
“The Free Nutritious Meal Program is not just about providing food to the community, but also about driving the local economy through an inclusive food supply chain involving farmers, breeders, SMEs, and local cooperatives,” said Nurworo in an official statement.
Achievements and Distribution of Polri SPPG
As of May 13, 2026, the Polri MBG Task Force has shown significant progress in developing nutrition infrastructure throughout Indonesia. The following are the details of the SPPG operational data:
- A total of 736 units, which have been operating, have served approximately 1.84 million beneficiaries and absorbed nearly 36,800 workers in various regions.
Strict Security Standards and Environmentally Friendly Innovations
Nurworo emphasized that all SPPG operations implement strict food safety standards. This includes hygiene and sanitation certification, food safety certification, and halal certification. In addition, Polri is implementing innovations by using Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) as a more efficient and environmentally friendly operational fuel.
On the other hand, strengthening the food ecosystem is also being carried out through the development of supporting infrastructure, such as:
Food Security Warehouses: Currently, there are 18 warehouses in 12 regional police headquarters, with a target of adding 10 new warehouses in 2026.
Production Facilities: The development of greenhouses, nutritious food gardens, and biofloc ponds to maintain supply stability.
President’s Agenda in Tuban
In addition to inaugurating 166 SPPGs spread across 24 regional police headquarters online, President Prabowo is scheduled to attend the Second Quarter Corn Harvest Festival in Tuban. The President will also lay the foundation stone for the construction of a food security warehouse as a symbol of strengthening national food self-sufficiency.
This program is expected to not only improve the nutritional quality of future generations but also provide a real economic impact for local communities through the circulation of the Rupiah in the local food sector.
