Prabowo Inaugurates 11 Downstreaming Projects Worth Rp180 Trillion in Central Halmahera
President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto inaugurated downstreaming projects worth US$10.2 billion, equivalent to Rp180 trillion, and sent off the first export of electric-vehicle (EV) batteries at the Indonesia Weda Bay Industrial Park (IWIP) in Central Halmahera Regency, North Maluku, on Thursday (8 October 2026).
The investment covers the launch of 11 downstreaming programme projects: the commercialisation of four completed industrial projects and the groundbreaking of seven new industrial projects in the integrated industrial estate.
In his remarks, Prabowo praised the cooperation of all parties and reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to safeguarding the investment climate in Indonesia.
“Today we will launch the first export of electric-vehicle batteries, and we will also launch 11 downstreaming projects, comprising the commercialisation of four industrial projects and the start of construction on seven new industrial projects at the Weda Bay Industrial Park,” he said at the inauguration.
“Ladies and gentlemen, what has been achieved over these past few years is truly something we can be proud of. I therefore reaffirm here the Indonesian Government’s commitment to respecting and protecting all investment, from wherever it comes, that is made on Indonesian soil,” Prabowo said.
Investment Minister and Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) head Rosan P. Roeslani said the total strategic investment in the IWIP estate amounted to US$10.2 billion, or around Rp180 trillion, with some of that investment already resulting in production and exports.
“Of the 11 projects, Mr President, four have been completed and have just held their commercial launch ceremonies, and exports worth US$3.4 billion have also been completed,” Rosan said.
Several senior state officials accompanied President Prabowo at the inauguration, including Coordinating Minister for Downstreaming and Energy Transition and Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia; Investment Minister and BKPM head Rosan P. Roeslani; Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Sugiono; State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi; Housing and Settlements Minister Maruarar Sirait; and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
Also in attendance were National Economic Council chair Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, National Nutrition Agency head Sudaryono and National Police Chief General Suyudi Ario Seto.
