Prabowo Inaugurates 1,177 TNI-Polri Junior Officers for 2026, Delivers Key Message
President Prabowo Subianto officiated the Prasetya Perwira (Praspa) ceremony for 1,177 Candidate Junior Officers (Capaja) of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the National Police (Polri) for the year 2026 at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday (22/7/2026). In his address, Prabowo stated that being an officer means being present when the people face difficulties. “That is the true meaning of service. I am pleased that this cohort was directly involved in handling disasters in Aceh, West Sumatra, and North Sumatra. We are the people’s army and police. The people’s difficulties will become your difficulties,” he said.
Prabowo also asserted that no interest is higher than the nation’s interest. He highlighted the rapidly changing global strategic environment, noting that threats to the state now come not only from military force but also from cyber warfare, information warfare, narcotics, smuggling, transnational crime, and cultural infiltration. To this end, Prabowo asked the officers to equip themselves with cutting-edge technological skills. “Master artificial intelligence, cyber systems, unmanned technology, and foreign languages. Future officers must excel in character, discipline, leadership, and mastery of science and technology,” Prabowo said.
Beyond technological capability, the head of state also stressed the importance of maintaining integrity. He affirmed that the TNI and Polri are two vital institutions that must remain professional and work to safeguard the nation’s unity. “Let there be no narrow corps loyalties. Integrity is an officer’s honour. Never abuse your position, never be tempted by corruption or misconduct. Never compromise with drugs, gambling, or other legal violations. The moment you betray the people, that is the moment you lose your honour,” he stated. He also reminded them that the education the officers received came from the people, and therefore their service must be entirely dedicated to the people. “Always remember, you were born from the people, educated with the people’s money. The clothes you wear from head to toe are from the people. Your food is from the people, your salary is from the people. Serve the people always. Be the protector, guardian, and defender of the people,” he said.
Following the inauguration, Prabowo presented the Adhi Makayasa award to the top graduates from each academy. The Adhi Makayasa is the highest honour given to cadets who demonstrate the best academic achievement, personality, mental and physical fitness, and leadership during their education. The 2026 Adhi Makayasa recipients included Calvin Tidar Sakti from the Military Academy, Muhammad Rizqi Wira Utama Baihaqi Putra from the Naval Academy, Yehezkiel Bonaventura Yudaniarman from the Air Force Academy, and Harindra Arsandho Tegarbaja from the Police Academy.
