Prabowo: In Two Years, I Have Been Attempted to be Bribed Multiple Times!
President Prabowo Subiante has asserted that bribery practices remain widespread in Indonesia, damaging the bureaucratic structure for decades. He admitted that he has frequently been a target of such bribery attempts.
These remarks were made by Prabowo during his speech at the handover ceremony of Rp13.2 trillion, representing the proceeds from forestry administrative fines, at the Attorney General’s Office on Tuesday (6/10/2026).
“We have seen our institutions being damaged for decades. Our ministers, our directors-general, they want to be bribed. Forget ministers, even I want to be bribed! In these two years, I have been targeted for bribery multiple times,” said Prabowo.
The Head of State explained that the government continues to combat practices of corruption, fraud, and the smuggling of state wealth. However, he noted that these enforcement efforts always face obstacles from various parties who benefit from such malpractice.
“We all know that this resistance comes from elements that enjoy corruption. Elements that enjoy fraud. Elements that enjoy the theft and robbery of state wealth,” he said.
Furthermore, Prabowo admitted that he frequently receives reports regarding how field officers are often subjected to threats and intimidation by these groups.
“I invite my brothers in this Task Force or within my administration: whoever does not wish to continue on the right path, I invite you to step aside gracefully,” Prabowo stated.
In this regard, despite facing significant pressure, Prabowo emphasised that his administration will not be intimidated by parties attempting to undermine the nation.
“Even if they have hundreds of trillions of rupiah, even if they pay buzzers, manipulate algorithms, attack us on social media, or finance demonstrations, we will not be intimidated. We are with the people! We are prepared to die for the people!” he declared.
