Prabowo: If You Think Indonesia Is Bleak, Feel Free to Find Another Country

President Prabowo Subianto has asked those who hold pessimistic views about Indonesia’s condition to look for another country if they feel the nation’s future is bleak.

Prabowo made the remarks while delivering a speech at the peak of the 79th National Cooperatives Day (Harkopnas) commemoration in Jakarta on Sunday (12 July).

Prabowo said Indonesia has enormous potential to continue developing. For that reason, he invited all elements of the nation to unite in building the country rather than continually spreading pessimism.

“Those who have doubts can just sit at home. Those who think Indonesia is bleak, feel free to look for another country if you wish. Go ahead. Nobody is stopping you,” Prabowo said.

He affirmed that the government will continue working to build the national economy, from the village level up to the regency level, through various programmes such as strengthening cooperatives.

Prabowo also called on the public to prioritise the spirit of mutual cooperation (gotong royong) and abandon the culture of disparaging one another.

“Let us unite. Let us work together in mutual assistance. Let us cooperate. Let the strong help the weak. Let the weak cooperate well. God willing, we will rise,” he said.

According to Prabowo, differences in political background or ethnicity should not be an obstacle to working together to build Indonesia.

“We are one family. Whatever our background, whatever our ethnicity, whatever our party. Every party has many patriots,” Prabowo concluded.
