Prabowo: I Will Invest Heavily in Education!
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto has stated that he will make massive investments in the field of education.
“Education is the key to the revival of our nation, yes. I will pay attention and I will invest massively in education for the future of our entire nation,” said Prabowo after inspecting SMAN 1 Cilacap, Central Java, as broadcast via the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube channel on Wednesday (29/4/2026).
“Those who graduate, we must also prepare them to work well,” he continued.
In this regard, he hopes that school renovations in Indonesia can be completed by 2028.
The Head of State also said that 17,000 schools were renovated in 2025. This year, Prabowo targets around 70,000 school renovations.
“I hope all schools will be completed by 2028. We have 288,000 schools, if we’re not mistaken. If this year, that means 87,000 will be completed by the end of the year, meaning we still have 200,000. If 100,000 in 2027, 100,000 in 2028, all Indonesian schools will have been repaired,” he emphasised.
“Schools that have been repaired must also have their quality improved, yes,” he stressed.
He wants all classrooms in schools to have digital screens or smartboards.
In this way, these smartboards can make learning more interactive and help students if they want to review a lesson.
“Yes, smart classrooms. Now it’s just one per school, yes? Some have two. This is great, already two. So our target is still perhaps three, four more per school. This year we will strive for three additions across all of Indonesia,” he said.
He wants Indonesian children to receive the best education.
“English, yes, we will bring in native speakers, they can teach everyone who needs it. Mandarin the same. We want to add that our schoolchildren must be able to speak English, Mandarin, and some foreign languages starting from primary school, yes,” said Prabowo.
