President Prabowo Subianto delivered a briefing at a Plenary Cabinet Session at the Merdeka Palace, Central Jakarta, on Monday. During his address, he stated that he had been attacked because he wanted to provide free nutritious meals (MBG) for Indonesian children.

“I was attacked because I wanted to provide nutritious meals for Indonesian children, to feed Indonesian children, pregnant women, and the elderly,” Prabowo said during his briefing.

Prabowo stated that there are parties who consider the provision of free nutritious meals to be a waste. “It is considered wasteful, but the thousands of trillions that evaporated and left Indonesian soil every year for 34 years drew no comment, no experts protested, and there was no investigation,” he revealed.

Prabowo explained that the provision of nutritious meals aims to solve the stunting problem experienced by Indonesian children. “We want to feed children, when clearly at least a quarter of our children are stunted, and many do not eat,” he said.

On that occasion, Prabowo also addressed parties who claimed Indonesia would collapse due to government wastefulness. “We are accused of being wasteful, we are told the economy will collapse, share prices will plummet, and the currency will weaken, on the grounds of wastefulness,” Prabowo concluded.
