Prabowo: I Want to Live Another Thousand Years to See Indonesia Prosper
President Prabowo Subianto stated this during the groundbreaking ceremony for the downstream project in the Cilacap Industrial Area, Central Java, on Wednesday (29/4/2026). “Honestly, I like the lyrics from one of my favourite songs. In the song ‘Pertemuan’, there are the words ‘I want to live another thousand years’, because I want to see Indonesia great, the Indonesian people prosperous, Indonesia respected and proud of by other nations,” said Prabowo. On that occasion, Prabowo also recounted his visit to a high school in Cilacap. He expressed optimism upon seeing the spirit of the students, which he assessed as reflecting a bright future for Indonesia. “Brothers and sisters, earlier I came from a high school in Cilacap, I saw the high school students were bright and spirited. Our future is good. We are united, we are together,” he stated. Furthermore, Prabowo emphasised the importance of unity amid Indonesia’s diversity. He reminded the public not to let differences become a source of division. “Don’t look at backgrounds, don’t look at tribes, don’t look at ethnic groups, don’t look at differences as good. Differences are wealth,” he said. “Don’t let differences become barriers. We cover each other’s shortcomings. We remind each other of mistakes. We correct negligence immediately, right? The goal of all this is the good of the nation,” he continued. Prabowo highlighted the importance of maintaining peace. He alluded to various conflicts occurring in several countries as valuable lessons for Indonesia. “Peace is very precious. Look at the news every day. Look at the news every day. Lebanon, Sudan, Somalia, Yemen, Lebanon, Iraq, Afghanistan, Baluchistan. Which country is not at war? Which country is not at war? We guard our nation. We guard our nation,” he stated.
